Earth tones are such beautiful colors, rich, subtle, not jarring. The colors in these paintings are the colors of Lake Superior, rust red, blue-green grey. I painted “Ewes,” “Winter Babies,” and “Hibernasium” before we moved here. When I painted them, we were living in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains, where the predominant color is either bright green or brown, depending on the season. I think the colors of these paintings indicate that I was looking for this part of the world even then; so glad to be here now.
